These trees often take longer to develop than some other species due to the fact that they usually only put out one flush per year. The European Beech is a versatile choice that carries slightly smaller leaves than its American cousin (Fagus grandifolia). The species thrives in acidic, well-drained soil and may prefer partial afternoon shade.

• Large Prebonsai are similar, but usually a year older and will always have caliper that is on the higher end of the range.
